Petru Lucaci, born in 1956 in Arad, Romania, is a renowned multidisciplinary artist based in Bucharest. He graduated with honors in 1982 from the “N. Grigorescu” Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, specializing in Painting, and earned a Ph.D. in Visual Arts in 2006.
Lucaci’s diverse body of work encompasses painting, graphics, photography, installation, performance, and new media. He has held over 50 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 300 group and collective exhibitions both nationally and internationally, establishing himself as one of the most versatile and expressive artists of his generation. His work spans from photorealism to abstract expressionism, marking him as a significant figure in the contemporary Romanian art.
His works have been showcased at prestigious venues such as the National Museum of Art of Romania and international galleries in Paris, Strasbourg, Helsinki, and Beijing. He has also featured in notable group exhibitions, including the 4th Beijing International Art Biennial (2010), the International Biennial of Arad (2007), and the Aichi Expo in Tokyo (2005). Throughout his distinguished career, Lucaci has received numerous accolades, including the Visual Arts Award from the Ministry of Culture (2007) and the Order of Cultural Merit in the rank of Officer from the President of Romania (2004).
