The artwork is a polyptych consisting of four panels, featuring elements from scenography workshops. It presents structures and textures that both capture and reinterpret the materiality of these objects. The piece focuses on objects that, in addition to their expressive qualities, embody what sociologists term as “agency.” This concept parallels the way we discuss humans in anthropocentric terms, considering their age, physical condition, life, and roles.

Series: Material Scapes
Material Scapes is an art series focused on re-evaluating and reconstructing materiality. It unfolds in stages, drawing from theories of post-materiality and the sociology of objects, and is grounded in the artist’s exploration of the symbolism in everyday materials.
The series begins with Depot, a project that examines the arrangement and use of various elements from daily artistic practice. Inspired by the environments of the National University of Arts in Bucharest and the decommissioned spaces of the CFP, this project reflects Lucaci’s interest in the interaction between ordinary materials and their potential for new artistic expression.
Material Scapes serves as a collection of fragments from the artistic environment, acting as a repository of icono-affective memory. These objects, removed from their original contexts, are abstracted, depersonalized, and reassembled into new visual structures. This reconfiguration alters their meanings, creating a composition that may lack formal coherence but gains significance through its transformation. The final work, a montage of images and assembled objects, resonates in both historical and contemporary contexts, connecting elements of neo-avant-garde and neo-expressionism.
